Three Car Noises to Watch Out for and What Each One Means

Three Car Noises to Watch Out for and What Each One Means, It is natural to feel a slow buildup of paranoia as your car steadily drives past its warranty. In traditional folklore, unusual sounds are often associated with a ghastly presence of evil and destruction. But we are far too old and too wise to be drilling holes in our cars bonnets to let the demons out, after we hear a strange screeching sound. Tower Service Station finds pleasure in bringing you an informative list about five distinctive noises, their underlying issues, and how to address them.

Three Car Noises to Watch Out for and What Each One Means

Upon hearing an abnormal sound from a machine, in a snap we are all hit with a realization that something isn’t working the way it is supposed to. However, what is truly worrying for most people is the cost and hassle associated with fixing their car. This is further amplified by the possibility that the repair or maintenance center might dishonestly charge you for something more than what the matter is worth. This is why we urge you to choose Tower Service Station to have your car repaired. But more on that later, for now let’s have a look at what might be the cause of that godforsaken noise your car is making.

A low rumbling noise

If you hear a low rumbling noise, good! That means your engine is running the way it is supposed to. But seriously, if your car is starting to exhibit rumbling noises that weren’t there before, it could mean one of two things.

If you hear the low rumbling noise together with vibrations at low RPMs, then your source of trouble is more likely to be dirty fuel injectors. Dirt particles in your fuel injectors could upset the balanced mixture between fuel and air, which is required for your engine to function properly.

If the rumbling noise is coming from underneath you, or from your rear, then it is likely that the issue is with your exhaust system. A crack in any of the components that make up your exhaust system will leak gasses, causing those rumbling noises. Additionally, it may cause your driver’s seat to vibrate – sort of like a massaging chair (not quite bad, eh?).

Solution: If the symptoms match the first case mentioned more closely, pouring a fuel injector cleaning solution into your fuel tank will likely put an end to the matter. However, if your case is identical to the symptoms displayed by a leaking fuel exhaust, you better visit a trusted maintenance and repair center to have that particular component replaced.

An odd mechanical clunking noise

Your car seems to be fine when driving on smooth tarmac, as if there are no worries in the world. However, when you hit a speedbump, or take that offroad shortcut to avoid the traffic jam; your car seems to be singing in a clunky – robotic tune.

You guessed it! Its coming from your suspensions. Your suspensions are crucial to the health of your car, since they absorb most of the downward G-forces generated by uneven ground. Over time, like everything else they wear out and lost their elastic nature.

Solution: Suspensions are no big of a deal – they can be replaced quite easily. Visiting a maintenance or repair center and asking for a suspension replacement is pretty much all it takes to put an end to your car’s clunking noises.

An unsettling squeal

Hmm, a squeal. Are you talking about that horrid dying noise that my car emits when I crank the ignition? Absolutely, we are talking about just that.

The source of the squeal is more than likely caused by an aging, worn out serpentine belt that is barely keeping itself together.

Serpentine belts are made of rubber, and do not last forever. They can be described as long belts that transports power to a numerous component in your car, including you’re A/C.

Solution: Time to put the old fella to rest and get a new and fresh serpentine belt installed. You better not delay this, since it might end up with you being stranded at the side of a road without air conditioning. Oh, sweet lord, no thank you.

Don’t wait to fix the issue

Two absolute rules in life: don’t wait until you are old to love, and don’t wait until your car completely breaks down to take it to a repair center. When picking a repair center, there are several things to look out for besides just affordability; honesty and transparency about repair costs, skill level of the workers, time cost, etc.
